About

Morgen Makes Miscellany is a page that I am starting to debunk that ever popular phrase, “I have enough craft supplies to last me the rest of my life.” Crafters often say this right before they buy something more to add to their stash.

One of the three work areas in my house. This one is on my side of our bedroom. I’ll admit, MY side has creeped on over to HIS side a titch but hey, he has the whole basement. 🤭

Well, I am about stashed out. It is time I started using what I have and put buying on hold. By doing this, I mean to entertain, educate and change lives, but most of all, have fun.

Two ply merino spun on my Ashford Traditional spinning wheel and plied on the Ashford KIwi.

While acquiring my craft supplies, I have learned many new crafts. About 15 years ago now, I taught myself to knit. After that, I fell into the wool world rabbit hole and started collecting beautiful wool yarns. As that grew to be expensive, my interests moved to making my own yarn.

The color of this skein is truer in picture above but this is a 2-ply of a blended green wool and a multicolored pink, white, red and green wool.

So, I began spinning. I learned how to dye and process raw wool. I have been spinning for about 2 1/2 years and all of a sudden I am weaving.

There is absolutely no excuse for not using up all of my stash before I die…or at least trying my hardest.

I intend to show you everything I do along the way including pictures of the parts of the stash I am diving into all the way to the finished project. Sometimes you may find those finished objects in my store, Morgen Makes Misc, on Etsy.

This is a handwoven scarf I made on my Ashford 16” Rigid Heddle Loom. It will be available in my shop soon.l

Everything I am doing is all new so that is why my Etsy store looks like a deserted island but it will grow as will this page. I wanted to invite you all from the beginning so no one misses any of the fun.

I hope you are able to learn a few things along the way but most of all, I hope you learn to use what you have to make beautiful things!! When you do this, you gain feelings of accomplishment and pride in your work as well as space in your house and money in your pocket.

I sew a bit too…it has been my main craft for the past 40 years, I kid you not. I started sewing formal dresses and wedding gowns my sophomore year in high school. Made my first king sized quilt the summer after I got married 25 years ago. My skills run the gamut and I am looking forward to sharing them with you.

If you are interested in learning about the person behind the making, please visit my About page at Kitschier and Co Fiber Arts. There I let you know the when, how and why I do what I do and know what I know.

Now, let’s go debunking!
